CHANDLEE
Mr
The mountain road between Lismore and Clogheen still continues to be more or less infested with a gang of robbers. On Saturday last, a transaction of rather serio-comic nature took place in the same district: As Mr CHANDLEE of Clogheen was returning to
the latter place from Lismore, he was stopped on the mountain by four marauders, armed with a blunderbuss and pistols, and deseried to deliver his money. Two of the fellows stepped up to sieze the bridle of his horse. Mr CHANDLEE, fearing if they got
hold of him they would ill treat him, cried out — "take care of the horse he'll bite you". The fellows drew back for an instant, and Mr CHANDERLEE taking advantage of the circumstances put spirs to his horse and galloped off triumphantly; and although
the robbers discharged two shots after him, he fortunately escaped without receiving any injury
