WILDERNESS, THE BEGINNING OF THE FATHERHOOD Of
GOD.
After the Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years God started to lead them
from slavery. But really God was the biggest slave driver of all. God
wanted to lead them into a land of rest but the problem was that they were
not willing to put their trust in God. So to get them ready for the land that
they were going into, God had to deal with the fact that these people didn't
know what rest was.
After working for 430 years they were used to the way that things were
being done, and they knew that they wanted God to save them, they didn't
know what they were asking for. So God they them the Sabbath which is a
day a rest which they needed in order to understand what God wanted.
During the 40 years in the wilderness God tried to offer them rest but they
didn't want to take it. They whinged about the how live was better in Egypt.
All they need to do was to take the love and comfort that God offered
them.
So why didn't they, because this would mean work, it would have meant
that they would need to forget sins and ill feeling and hatred and move on.
