In this essay we shall study how our lack of trust in God, and our sins can
stop us from experiencing God's comfort. What was happening to me was
that I was being bullied and I wanted God to comfort me, he wanted to but
because of my sins and lack of trust until I forgave those boys God's
comforting was not experience by me. Now comforting in this case means
that we must turn back from our sins and trust in him, this is the tough love
part of the deal. So what's is going on here is an interlocking action
between tender and tough love.
In the book of Genesis we read the story of Jacob. Jacob was trying to
take by force what God was freely ready to give him. So he fooled his
brother into selling his birthright. (Genesis 25:29-34) In Genesis 27 we read
that Jacob fooled his father. Now God said if you trick and try to rip
people off, the same will happen to you. We read this story in Genesis 29.
In Genesis 32 we get to the guts of the story. Genesis 32:22-31 tells us
about how God and Jacob wrestled. The first 3 verses tells us that God
waited until Jacob was alone and had no where to turn except to God.
Verse 25 says that Jacob's hip was put out of joint. God says "Jacob I am
sick of you running away from everything you just have to face up to things.
Verse 26 us that Jacob finally wanted to trust in God. Verse 27 and 28 tells
us that God took away his old life and made him the father of a great
nation. In this essay we shall study how our lack of trust in God, and our
