1Tim 2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her
children (King James)
Isaiah 66: 10- 13 Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who
love her, all you who mourn over her. For you will nurse and be satisfied at
her comforting breasts: you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing
abundance." For this is what the Lord says: " I will extend peace to her like
a river and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and
be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her
child, so I will comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
(NIV)
Now I understand that this has been taken out of context a bit, but I shall
explain why my understanding is true in any context. In the context which
this passage is set, Isaiah is painting a picture of the state of the church after
Christ's return. Our relationship with Christ of Jerusalem. This passage can
refer to the state of the believer now. Saving souls isn't just about getting
people out of hell - it's about people becoming part of God's family through
the shed blood of Christ. It is right to say that tough love is part of that.
